Let's Easter!
About 60 kids and adults came out to the "I love Harue" community event. There were lots of Easter activities, but first-- does everyone know what Easter is? In Japan, the answer is NO! That's why Mr. ???? (insert random Japanese name because I forgot it), an interesting Christian man, and I explained what this special day of eggs, bunnies, lambs, and a crucifed guy is all about. I talked about Easter traditions in Poland and the story of Easter. I made sure to bring pictures from a Catholic coloring book that I found (<-- that's not random-- everyone has a coloring book depicting Christ's life at home-- don't they???). I thought the pictures would make it easy for the kids to follow the story. Instead it caused lots of cryies of "kowaii" (scarey) from the audience. Some of the kids even broke out into tears. Score! No, wait this is bad-- very bad! Quick, hey kids-- lets color eggs and eat tiramisu.

Making a traditional Easter treat- Tiramisu!

This year, the little town that I live in decided to have an "English Kitchen" event for Easter time. The plan was to have kids and some parents come to make Tiramisu, speak English, learn about Easter, dye eggs, and have an Easter egg hunt. Tiramiusu isn't an Easter treat, but hey they didn't know that. It was lucky that participants could follow the directions, which were written only in Japanese. So that's why they had me, to run around and help everyone with their dessert.

How cute-- child labor!
Just kidding, it really was cute to see all the little ones cooking.
I did feel a little bad for the kids that just got dropped off by there parents and left alone. Luckly everyone that was there worked together. This girl was onle of the lucky few that had a daddy that didn't just drop her off at the door-- they worked together.
How sweet!
It's Easter Egg Hunt time! Now were could those colorful eggs be?
They couldn't be under that sheer cloth- that would be too easy!
Everyone seemed to have fun- and I only made a hand full of kids cry. Maybe they won't remember the Easter story although a few of the kids might be scarred by the image of Christ crucified to a cross, but they did get to dye Easter eggs, make and eat some tiramisu and hunt for plastic Easter eggs that they redemed for prizes. All in all, it was a fun day. =)
